Come to ski where it all began! Downhill skiing began over 60 years ago in Jackson where Sears Roebuck shovel handles were used for a lift.

Today, ski or ride more than 350 trails on over 1600 acres at the 7 alpine areas listed below. Cross country ski over the river, through the woods and from inn-to-inn. The six touring centers listed below offer nearly 450 KM of trails, 343 KM groomed, for all abilities. All of these areas offer equipment rentals and lessons whether you are heading out for the first time or interested in learning new skills.

Winter in this area doesn't just mean skiing. Dress in layers and head out to ice skate, snowshoe, try snow tubing or maybe a horse-drawn sleigh ride with or without champagne is more to your liking. Many nordic areas offer guided snowshoe tours with a naturalist and clinics for specific skills or for women only.
